Campfire Ritual

Setup

1. Tested on Chrome, on Mac.
2. Open the tracker window with the link above.
3. Over there: press turn on camera and turn on midi.
4. Over there: pick your camera or external webcam from the dropdown.
5. Over there: the Model dropdown should already say Hands. If it doesn't, re-open the link.
6. Over there: first time only — turn on your IAC bus.
7. Over there: make sure IAC Driver Bus 1 is selected.
8. Back here: pick which laptop this is (1–4).
9. Back here: press request MIDI, then select IAC Driver Bus 1.
10. Back here: press play — all four laptops together. The score runs from the time in start at.
11. Hold up both hands. What the distances do changes as the score moves on; each card shows what that pair is playing now and what comes next.

Troubleshooting

1. Make sure the computer volume is turned up.
2. Both hands have to be visible at once — distances are only sent when the tracker sees two hands.
3. The meters move before you press play, so you can check the tracker first.
4. “No score found” means there is no score/score.json next to this page. Export one from the score editor and unzip it here.
5. After unzipping a new score, press reload score (or refresh the page).
6. The tracker gates its own output first (thumbs/middle/pinkies below 5, index/ring below 7 read as 0), so touching fingertips give a true silence instead of jitter. A small dead zone down there is intentional.
