Campfire Ritual

Setup

1. Tested on Chrome, on Mac.
2. Open the tracker window with the link above.
3. Over there: press turn on camera and turn on midi.
4. Over there: pick your camera or external webcam from the dropdown.
5. Over there: the Model dropdown should already say Hands. If it doesn't, re-open the link.
6. Over there: first time only — turn on your IAC bus.
7. Over there: make sure IAC Driver Bus 1 is selected.
8. Back here: press request MIDI, then select IAC Driver Bus 1.
9. Back here: press play music.
10. Hold up both hands. Fingertips together = quiet, hands apart = loud.
11. To stop, refresh the page.

Troubleshooting

1. Make sure the computer volume is turned up.
2. Both hands have to be visible at once — distances are only sent when the tracker sees two hands.
3. The meters move before you press play music, so you can set the cutoffs first.
4. If a voice never rises, lower its high cutoff. If it slams to full instantly, raise the low cutoff.
5. The tracker gates its own output first (thumbs/middle/pinkies below 5, index/ring below 7 read as 0), so touching fingertips give a true silence instead of jitter. A small dead zone down there is intentional.
